Hey parents! My name is Tala Hershey. I am a speech and language pathologist, speech and language parent coach, and most importantly - mom to two wild and crazy toddler boys.
Becoming a mom changed everything for me. It changed my perspective on my own life, and my perspective on how I approach working with parents in my job. Before I was a mom, as a speech therapist, I just couldn't recognize the busyness, the stress, the chaos, everything that needs to get done in a day when you have kids.
Now? I totally get it. I AM it. We're busy. "One MORE thing on my to do list? No thank you." So, my goal is to provide you with tangible, bite-sized steps to learning these strategies, and then incorporating them into your everyday life. Nothing changes, but your toddler's development thrives.
Parenting is hard!! It's the only job in the world that doesn't come with a training, or a handbook. So, when your toddler has difficulty with expressive language, how are you supposed to know what to do? That's where I come in. My goal, and my only goal, is to help you learn the exact strategies I use in speech therapy to get your toddlers talking right at home. No more sifting through google, no more waiting on waitlists, for referrals, evaluations, none.
Traditional speech therapy for expressive language difficulties is... fine. It's just not enough if you want to see results, fast. We need to maximize the time you're with your toddler and go from 30-minutes of speech a week to incorporating speech into your busy lives, wherever you are, whenever you can. And, we need to get everyone on your toddler's team aligned, learning the same strategies, and on the same page.
I am completely committed to ensuring that you learn every strategy and how to implement them wherever and whenever you are with your toddler. The support you'll get here is unmatched. I did not become a toddler language expert by just reading posts and watching videos. I had tons of support and guidance - and that is exactly what I will give to you.
Now, give yourself the peace of mind knowing that you, your toddler's favorite person in the world, are taking matters into your own hands and setting your child up for success.
The most crucial time for development in a toddler is 0-3. For all things, including language.
Quite frankly, "wait and see" is complete nonsense. It doesn't help anyone, and it's not backed by any research. What, exactly, are we waiting for?
In fact, the longer you wait, the more likely your toddler will have language difficulties later on in pre-school. Look, I don't mean to say this to scare you - it's just the truth.
The time is now to do everything within your power to get your toddler's language up to speed. And I will say for damn sure that learning the strategies I've been trained in is well within your power.
